Creating a Vision of Connection and Contribution
In coaching, I often refer to vision as a “spatial conversation.” It’s not just a list of goals—it’s the energy and possibility you create around you. A powerful vision is built on connection and contribution, qualities that lift us beyond ourselves and open new paths for meaningful impact.
The Power of a Spatial Vision
Your vision is not just about personal achievements—it’s about the space you create for yourself and others. One of our group members recently realized that her vision is about connecting people to themselves and to each other. While her specific goal is to reach one billion people, the true essence of her vision lies in fostering deep, lasting connections.
Why This Matters
A vision rooted in connection and contribution expands beyond personal success. It invites others into a shared experience, creating an uplifting and transformative space. When you shift your vision from being solely about achievement to fostering meaningful relationships, you naturally align with opportunities that amplify your impact.
Try This:
- Imagine Your Vision as a Space: Close your eyes and visualize your vision as a physical environment. How does it make others feel? What emotions and experiences does it invite?
- Define the Qualities of Your Vision Space: Write down key words that describe your vision—such as “welcoming,” “inspiring,” “energizing,” or “grounded.”
- Use This Image as a Guide: Whenever you face challenges or obstacles, return to your vision space. Let it serve as your compass, reminding you of the deeper purpose behind your actions.
