Trust Issues? Start Here.

Let’s talk about trust.

Whether you’re a parent, a partner, a leader, or simply navigating your own personal growth-trust is everything. And yet, it’s one of the easiest things to erode and one of the hardest to rebuild… unless you know where to look.

This week, I want to share a real-life story from one of my clients, Robert. He’s a brilliant entrepreneur and a dedicated father, but he found himself in a familiar pattern-doubting his teenage son, micromanaging, and reacting from fear.

Sound familiar?

Here’s the breakthrough: Robert realized it wasn’t about his son-it was about him.

The Shift That Changed Everything Instead of interrogating or controlling, Robert did three simple (but powerful) things:

  1. He Paused and Reflected He asked himself, “Am I reacting to my son-or my own fears?” That moment of self-awareness changed the whole dynamic.
  2. He Got Curious Instead of Controlling Instead of assuming or accusing, he started asking questions like: 👉 “What was your thought process?” 👉 “How can I support you?”

Those questions opened a door to real conversation.

  1. He Reconnected with His Vision Robert stopped parenting from fear and started parenting from intention. He asked, “What kind of relationship do I want to create?” and aligned his actions with that vision.

The Leadership Lesson Inside This Here’s the truth: Trust isn’t about control-it’s about connection.

This applies to parenting. It applies to teams. It applies to YOU and how you relate to yourself.

When we lead with fear, we close doors. When we lead with curiosity, we open them.

Your Challenge This Week ✨ Think of one relationship where trust feels a little off. Then ask yourself:

Where am I reacting instead of creating?

What’s one way I could invite connection instead of impose control?

Try one open-ended question. Pause before responding. Realign with the kind of relationship you truly want.

That’s where trust begins.

Let’s Stay in the Conversation
