We are almost at the finish line
As the year comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to take stock of what you’ve accomplished, what your wins were, and where you fell short. Reflecting on these things is essential because, without doing this work, you’ll find yourself building layer upon layer of goals for 2025 without truly completing 2024.
Why is completing this year so important? When you complete something, it leaves nothing in its space, a blank slate. And when it comes to creating the next year, you need that space of nothingness to truly design the future you want to accomplish in 2025.
Here’s a tactic to help you complete your year:
- Make a List of Key Life Categories: Break down your life into categories like well-being, finances, romantic relationships, family, career, and emotional well-being.
- Review and Reflect: For each category, make a list of what you set out to accomplish in 2024. What did you fulfill, and what is still unfinished? Did some goals get abandoned along the way?
- Decide What’s Complete: You still have a couple of weeks left in 2024, so it’s not over until it’s over. However, if there are goals you’re ready to move on from, this is your opportunity to declare them complete. Acknowledge what you accomplished, recognize what you didn’t, and prepare to start fresh in 2025.
- Create from Nothing: The only way to create a truly inspiring 2025 is from a space of nothingness, free from the weight of unfinished business from the past. Avoid the temptation to simply add 10% to this year’s results or to drag the past into the future. Instead, envision yourself a year from now—what do you want your well-being, emotional life, work life, relationships, and family to look like? What is your vision for the future that’s unencumbered by the past?
